Accepting, adapting, advancing

In a world where the future is becoming more and more unpredictable by the day, we need to have the ability to adapt to and accept change. Because, what’s the alternative?

Instead of education systems that focus on rote learning, which by definition is things learned before, we need education systems that explore the possibilities of the future.

We need the ability to adapt to and accept whatever comes, good or bad (which is also always based on perspective). We need the ability to adapt to and accept change.

This is where indigenous cultures that have stood the test of time can teach the world a trick or two.

At the core of Yamabushi training is Hanseihanzoku, half secular, half sacred. Essentially Yamabushi live lives like you and I so we can better relate to the modern person, they just happen to also do ascetic training in the mountains to learn the secrets of nature and life itself.

It’s been this way for centuries, and I believe it’s a core reason why they have survived so long. Their core philosophy, uketamo, literally means acceptance. Accepting what happens, and moving forward.

In short, the greater your ability to adapt, accept, and advance, the better off you will be. Because, what’s the alternative? There is none.
