The respect you deserve

Ichigoichie. Each moment is fleeting. This is a huge learning from Zen and is especially popular with tea ceremony in Japan. Ichigoichie is about treating each moment with the respect it deserves. Our situation also deserves the same respect.

What’s exciting for you? What gets you up in the morning? And if you can’t think of anything off hand, what would be something that would do that? Another way to think of it is, who is doing something that you admire and is someone you aspire to be like? While you may not be able to replicate their success, you can at least work towards creating your own form of success.

Respect the situation. Someone is better than you at doing something you want to do. What can you do about it? If you do nothing, nothing will happen. If you work towards changing the situation to be in your favour, the moments expand exponentially to be in your favour.

Treat every moment with the respect it deserves. Treat yourself with the respect you deserve.
