Are you hiding?
When I trained to become an English teacher, one of the things that I was taught was that staying behind your desk all the time is a way of hiding, a way of giving into the fear as such. Obviously as a teacher, confidence is key, so it helps to be cognizant of whether you are hiding or not.
I’m just putting the finishing touches on the Mt. Hokari video, and tried it with and without music. The Mt. Taizo video has basically zero music in it, just the sounds of the forests, and I think it is much better for it. The same goes for the Mt. Hokari video. That was when I realised in my videos I had been using music to cover a number of things in the background, that I had been using music to hide some undesirable sounds (breathing being the biggest one).
And I don’t want to do that. I want to give a true representation of the mountain, not some lavish over-edited piece of garbage. I think that there is a lesson in here for all of us, that we may be doing some things that are essentially hiding, that if we only had a little bit more confidence, maybe we could present a truer version of ourselves.
So, are you hiding?
