Comparison is limiting

We all know that we shouldn't compare ourselves to others. One big reason why is because if we only compare ourselves to others we can only be as good as the other person. But, if we compare ourselves to our former selves, we can grow more. Of course it's good to have a level of where you are at, but don't let your level compared to others dictate your actions.

For example, if you compare your salary to the people that live around you, you are only limiting to yourself to your direct community. I feel we tend to do this quite a lot only comparing ourselves to those around us, but this isn't how it should be done.

By comparing ourselves to our former selves, we almost guarantee that we can improve. When we compare ourselves to others, we all but guarantee we can improve.
