Doing things you don’t feel like

light workplace with laptop in office

Of course there are some parts of your job that someone has to do. I feel immense amounts of pleasure doing my jobs, trying to make life better for all those I interact with, but sometimes there are things that I just really don’t feel like doing.

At times like that, I like to remind myself to think bigger than that, ‘that’s what you’re getting paid for’, and that it’s all in the name of making life better for those who you wish to serve.

Also, often once you do these things, you find out that it’s not so bad in the end either, and that practice doing them now will help you if you do it more efficiently if have to do it in the future.

I’ve been caught up in the past few days with a few such things. It can have an impact on the things I usually do want to do, so I find it’s best to try and batch them and do them as quickly as possible, or give yourself some sort of reward for doing so, like a cup of coffee or something. Although, it’s probably best to build systems so that these things are few and far between.
