Don’t be desperate

When I first started working as a full time translator, I made a point of answering my emails as soon as possible, so that I wouldn’t miss any chances. I guess I was desperate for the business. Now, I could do a much better job of answering my emails, but there’s a reason for that.

When you’re desperate for business, you start to focus too much on bringing in business, and less on actually doing a good job, but this is what will lead you to more business.

When you’re desperate, you think rashly and only short-term. Don’t. Focus on doing a good job. If you can do a good job at communicating as well, even better!
