Going without

Every once in a while, try to go without something. I think that’s the main point of Lent, but it really does help you appreciate things when you have them, so you value them more than you normally would. Yamabushi training is a really good exercise in going without, but we haven’t been able to do that for a while now 🙁

Could you live without the internet? It’s now one of the essentials of daily life, and living without it is truly debilitating. Or so we make ourselves believe.

For the past 10 or so days we’ve been living without a home connection, we just moved into a new house and the wait is a month at the moment due to high demand. For work, I’ve had to go to my in-law’s, but thankfully it’s now very close. So I guess you could say I haven’t really been living without it, but the inconvenience is enough to make me appreciate when we had it!

I’ve had to adjust a bit, but I think it’s been in a good way. I’ve been reading more than I used to, and I’m more motivated to just sit down and write, there’s a backlog that I’ve been letting just build up, and this is the perfect chance to catch up. I’m going to have to try going without more often.

ENJOYED THIS? HAVE MORE.
