The ability to do it anyway

Photography was merely a hobby.

In the winter of 2011, I set myself a challenge: use only one lens on a trip to Vietnam.

However, I clearly remember feeling self-conscious carrying around such a big camera. A lot of the time I felt like a poser or an imposter even. Since I had such a big camera, it was imperative to get good results.

These days you don’t have that problem.

Well, you shouldn’t.

These days, your smartphone has a lens just as good, if not better. These days, point and shoot has taken on an entirely different meaning.

And yet people still feel self-conscious. People still feel like a poser, like an imposter.

It’s not the tools. It never was the tools.

It’s the attitude. It’s the ability to ignore the others. It’s the ability to ignore the resistance.

It’s the ability to do it anyway.
