The ultimate Dojo

If you know how to deal well with things thrown at you during ascetic training, you have the techniques to deal well with basically anything life throws at you.

Ascetic training puts you in situations where you are tested and challenged. It requires you to use your natural instincts to get through, to rely on no-one but yourself.

More importantly, however, it proves to you that you can do it. It gives you the belief and conviction in your own self and your own abilities needed to get through.

But the thing is, while ascetic training can certainly help with this, there are plenty of other experiences that teach us the exact same thing. We just have to be wise enough and attuned enough to realise what those things are, or in most cases, have been.
