Mindful of the moment
Make being in the moment a big part of your every day to help keep you grounded, awake, and to help deal with stress. We need daily reminders of our existence, otherwise we go on automatic mode and our minds can take us to unhelpful places.
By doing things that make you mindful of the moment, in a way it can be a reality check. What can be good for this? Things that force you to be in the moment, or things that force you to lose yourself in the experience. Meditation comes to mind, but also things like making art, photography, making pour over as opposed to instant coffee, or things like walks out in nature. Some of these things are a vocation for some people, who are already doing things on a daily basis to put them in the moment. For those donโt have such a vocation, it would be helpful to practice these things.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Hi, I’m Tim Bunting AKA the Kiwi Yamabushi, a New Zealander who became a Yamabushi Ascetic in the Dewa Sanzan mountains of north Japan. I’m part of the Yamabushido team, and we host life-altering Yamabushi training on the Dewa Sanzan (website link). People come to us for the ultimate mindfulness experience, to reach the next level, or simply connect with nature and themselves.
I’m on a mission to summit all 100 Famous Mountains of Yamagata Prefecture to spread the splendour of this fabulous location, and in dedication to all those who lost their lives out in nature, including my father.
On my daily blog I post thoughts of a practicing Yamabushi that I hope people can use to better themselves and live as fulfilling a life as possible.
