No one can master nature

Tim Bunting Kiwi Yamabushi looks out over Mt. Chokai from Mt. Gassan

No one can master nature. The Yamabushi knew this millennia ago.

The term 'teaching' is a loaded one because it assumes the teacher has achieved some form of mastery over a subject. Like students, teachers need to also see themselves as being on a journey of learning.

The job of the teacher is to set up the ultimate environment for learners to learn. In this regard, teachers have the same job as a Yamabushi. Yamabushi are not the teacher. They are not the fountain of knowledge some have been led to believe.

Nature is the ultimate environment for learning. Nature is the teacher. Yamabushi simply guide people into nature, and simply give people the opportunity to learn from her.

Think about it the other way. To be able to teach something means you have some form of mastery over the subject. No one can master nature.
