Perfection at all costs

red green and black dartboard

Imagine what a sad place the world would be if we were only allowed to release the perfect into it. It’s easy to say if that were the case, we’d never get anything done.

Think about it in terms of learning a second language. That aim for perfection would be debilitating, besides the fact that it depends on whose idea of perfection we’re talking about.

I think this is actually a big reason why Japanese people don’t advance as much in English as the amount of effort they put into it would have you believe. Judged on their record, it’s clear why perfection at all costs is a recipe for disaster. Best to aim for perfect enough.
