Put Your Jealousy to the Test

When we see other people doing well, it can be easy to feel discouraged about our own endeavours. And when we see people similar to us doing well, it can be heartbreaking. The reason for this is because it can be hard to separate ourselves from the situation, especially if the situation is similar to our own. However, the advice remains the same.

Take the time to step back and assess the situation. Realise that although similar, and although it may not feel like it, these people are on a different track to you. Know that they have gone through pain to get there. Know that they have been in the same position as you before too. Use your jealousy of the other person being in that situation in a positive way. Use it as motivation to be better. See how strong your jealousy is, and see if you can put it to the test.

If you still feel discouraged, it means you need more time to assess the situation. You may need to make time to get away from it all. This can be practiced through meditation, by practicing letting absolutely any thought just pass. When you sit down quietly, tell yourself that you're not going to dwell on any thoughts, and just practice doing that for at least 5 minutes, maybe more.
