Running in the rain

What would it take for you to go for a run in the rain?

Those who saw my Instagram story this morning would have seen a post about an ominous sky. When I left the house, all I could see was a bright sky full of white clouds. I ran basically in one direction as I always do for quite a while, at least 2km. Then when I turned around to head back, I noticed the sky behind me was full of dark grey clouds in contrast to the white sky that was ahead of me until then.

That’s when I realised, if I don’t hurry up, I’ll get drenched. If that dark sky was only a few kilometres closer to my house, I would have thought twice about going out.

But when we do Yamabushi training, the date is set, and we go out no matter what. I think that’s a good mindset to have, that you’d do anything because you’ve put your mind to it, and you’d do it no matter what.

The real test would be a rainy morning though. I’m not sure my wife would like me going out in the rain, although I’d probably be ok with it.
