Start with what you can do

The exercise you do, is the exercise you should do

‘The exercise you do, is the exercise you should do’

Tim Ferriss, or at least something along those lines.

I believe it was in Tim Ferriss’ Four Hour Body, but when talking about getting around to doing exercise, the exercise you do, is the exercise you should do.

In essence:

Focus on what you can actually do, and are actually doing, rather than what we should be doing, but aren’t.

Getting caught up in the latest fads.

Not doing something unless we can do it in the ‘correct’ way.

Not doing something because we have analysis paralysis.

Not doing something because we don’t have our favourite t-shirt on.

Not doing something because the weather isn’t right.

Not doing something because we got up on the wrong side of the bed.

These are all just excuses.

While you may not be able to do something amazingly well every time you go about it, at least you’re doing it.

First we need to make sure we do the thing in the first place. Even the bare minimum.

Start with what you can do.

Then make sure you do it.
