The creative process

When it comes to the creative process, how do you go about it? It helps if the inspiration just comes to you, obviously, but when you have a task you need to do, even just writing out ideas very briefly as soon as you hear of the task can help enormously.

When I have to give a speech or write and article, I tend to blurt out all of my ideas, and then I purposely walk away. Usually it's when my mind wanders, while I'm away from the task, that I have a clearer view of what I want to produce. Walking and swimming are great ways of ensuring this. Reading a book also helps, cos my mind tends to wander if the book isn't that compelling. (I do reread things if I find my mind wandering and I think they're important.

That is to say, blurt out your ideas. Then walk away. Come back when you've had sufficient time to think, and your ideas develop subconsciously. Arguably the easiest way besides just having the inspiration.
