The recency bias and getting over stuff

Tim Bunting Kiwi Yamabushi

I think it’s fair to say things that happen recently take pride of place in our brains. It’s much easier to remember what happened today than what happened last Thursday. When something we’d rather forget happens, the recency bias can really play on our brains if we let it.

So it helps to remember that, even though things in the current moment may be tough, given enough time, the recency bias loses its power, and other, more recent things start to take pride of place. When this Thursday becomes last Thursday, it doesn’t matter as much anymore.
