Which country has a better environment for setting up a business? Japan or New Zealand?

Overall, I'd say Japan. The cost of living in NZ is so high people struggle just to stay afloat let alone start a business. Housing is the main cause of this, quite obviously. People spend so much of their income just to put a roof over their head, plus the no capital gains tax thing makes it much more lucrative to invest in the ever-expensive housing market. This in spite of the fact that Japan has been in a recession for 30 years, and the amount of bureaucracy that they burden themselves with.

The lower cost of living in Japan is the major point. It wasn’t like this in the past apparently, but it is now. I wonder how long this trend will last and how long the average wage will be smaller in NZ.
