Why you should always put the team first.

The greatest ever cricketer, Don Bradman, was also the greatest ever sportsperson ever.

Ever.

Look at his stats.

Then look at the next guy, Sachin Tendulkar.

The gulf is huge.

But Bradman was a bit of an outlier. No one has even come close since he was around.

Tendulkar on the other hand.

I had the honour of watching Tendulkar play live multiple times. He was by far one of my favourite players, and I think there would be a few 100 million Indians who would agree with me.

One thing that impressed me about Tendulkar was his team first attitude. He always prided himself on putting the team ahead of himself.

In a sport like cricket where individual statistics do make a difference one whether you’ll be able to play again, placing the team first takes a lot of guts.

But that’s the only way to be.

You’re only as good as your weakest player. You’re also only as good as your team.

Tendulkar proved this with his actions on the pitch. And his stats prove just how great a cricketer he was.

Put the team first.

Always.
