Writing is the opposite of meditation

And both have their place

In meditation, you try and stop your brain from wandering, and you focus on bringing it into the current moment. Writing is the opposite. You let your mind wander and you capture those thoughts. What’s more, you edit them.

You never do this in meditation. Meditation is about taking in the thoughts as they come. Writing involves a whole lot of mental gymnastics that largely modifies the original idea, often changing it entirely too.

Both these pursuits have their place. Both are beneficial at having a sound mind, and both belong in your repertoire. Plus, if done right, both bring inspiration to the other. A perpetual cycle of good.
