A lesson from Zen to help you get through

Lotus flowers

When it comes to meals, there is no delicious, nor disgusting, bitter nor sweet.

There just is.

When it comes to experiences, there is no entertaining, nor boring, useful nor useless.

There just is.

When we eat or do things not for the sensations they bring, but for what they are, we understand their true essence.

The next time you feel flustered, dissatisfied, or otherwise unhappy about something, don’t focus on what you’re feeling. Focus on what the food or experience is.

If we can learn to do this, we can more easily live a life without attachment, and a life full of content.
