Balancing your own terms

When I do stuff like baking or making coffees for other people, I start to imagine life as a cafe owner or even just a staff member. But to be honest, I don’t know if I’d ever be able to do that, unless it was entirely on my own terms. However, if something is entirely on your own terms, if you’re doing it entirely for your own purpose, your patron could lose out, and you could even lose business altogether.

I think it’s about finding a balance between the two. It’s about being generous to both yourself and your patron. This is by no means limited to hospitality as well.

This blog, for example, I originally started only for purely selfish reasons, but I’ve been slowly trying to make it more for other people. Which then leads to the question who’s it for, and why should they care, I guess that’s where you should start from.
