Execute on an idea as soon as possible

Today I was climbing Tsuchiyu-Yama and as I was hiking up I noticed that the summit was shrouded in cloud. It looked really beautiful. I thought I should stop and get a time lapse, but I also wanted to make good time getting up the mountain. Turns out this wasn’t a smart plan.

By the time I got down, the cloud had already disappeared. There was now no point in doing the time lapse. Had I done it earlier when I thought about it, I would have gotten it.

Last year I suffered from not putting my content out sooner. I built up a backlog and it took me a while to get through things, and by then the season had changed and some of the videos didn’t feel as timely as I’d like.

I learned that it’s best to execute on your ideas as soon as possible. Not only can you learn from them sooner, you can gain more advantage by being timely or opportunistic.
