Finding your voice

The Small Business Japan Podcast I was featured in was released this morning. I am very thankful to Josh for all the work he does on the podcast and for small businesses in Japan, but also to Donny Kimball who introduced us.

As always, it's strange hearing your own voice, even though I've done nearly 100 radio shows, and have been making videos as of late. Listening to myself talk, it's quite monotone and thus not very animated, plus there are frequent gaps and buts that make it rather jarring. Granted, what I'm talking about is indeed confusing, but I do need to work on these things, and the best way I can think to do that is to speak, preferably on air! Tomorrow we will be doing our 100th radio show live, so that's a good chance, but I also need to go out of my way to find ways to get that practice in.

I started this blog in part to practice my communication skills. I think it has really helped because you have your ideas in a more concise format, so all I need to do is read through what I've written before to give myself a refresher every once in a while. The problem is, my memory's not the best and I often forget things that could be relevant in the moment, so need to focus a bit more I guess.

Anyway, I think a more animated way of talking is in order, and again to try and be more concise as I try to find my voice.
