History and second languages
When we learn history, we learn the messages of the ancestors. We can apply these messages to our daily lives, in the hopes of a better outcome in the future.
Learning a second language is like learning history in this regard. When we learn a second language, we also learn the history of that language and the messages that we can apply in our daily lives. If the messages are important enough, they transcend cultures and languages.
At the other end of the spectrum, if we don't apply these messages to our lives, we risk making mistakes that could have been avoided. This is one way I think learning a second language can benefit humanity greatly. Without the ability to communicate interculturally, we lack the ability to fully learn from our mistakes, and to contribute to society meaningfully.
