There’s idea generation, then there’s the execution.

You need both. Ultimately you want good ideas and good execution.

Unfortunately, good ideas come and go like the wind. It’s why you need some way of recording them when they come.

Good execution, on the other hand, is a matter of practice. Practice execution as much as you can. Then when the good ideas come, it’s just a matter of pouncing on them.
