Make the chances, take the chances

This time last week I was coming back from Mt. Gassan. I found out earlier today that the mountain is now covered in snow to about 1400m, well below the height we would have been (didn’t reach the summit, but made it to Ubagatake, a lower peak).

I’m glad we could get there when we did. With Mt. Gassan it’s quite hard to predict exactly when the mountain will close, I’ve been up there in late October before. This year just appears to be earlier.

Let this be a reminder that you never know when chances to do things will be taken away from you. We’re all well aware of this with COVID, but it’s true. Make the chances, take the chances.
