Making use of predictions

crop female future teller with tarot cards on table

As much as possible in my lessons I try to use interesting media that has an important lesson. One such video I've been using a lot recently is this one on the marshmallow challenge. The language is a bit difficult because the speaker speaks quite fast and uses some phrases that require a lot of vocabulary knowledge, but the content gives many chances for students to make predictions, which are a great way to engage students by the way. If the predictions require use of the target language, it's really good because the students have a vested interest in finding out whether their predictions were true or not. If you want a good way to engage people, have them put some money on the line by making predictions, metaphorically speaking of course.
