Minnows

Minnows. Small fish. Or, people who have the potential to come from nowhere and take everything. In many sports, NZ is a minnow. Cricket being one of them (maybe not so much recently).

Something about minnows gets me excited. The potential for an upset is always good TV. Like Japan against South Africa at the 2015 Rugby World Cup. Not only does it give the minnow instant status, it also downplays the status of the loser, and I think that's something that should happen more often (but then they wouldn't be minnows).

Well, I mean that every once in a while, it's good to be put in your place. It keeps you on your toes and stops you from being complacent.

For minnows, it gives them a sliver of hope too. So, minnows. Keep doing what you're doing.
