Murky waters

Or foggy goggles?

When the water is murky you can only see so far ahead. You can only focus on what’s directly in front of you. In some cases, this is a blessing. Your path ahead is pretty limited, so it takes out the factor of choice, and regret about that choice, or opportunity costs. On the other hand, not having a general direction to take can be worrying, we always want to know we’re at least heading somewhere.

But sometimes the water isn’t murky because it’s murky. It’s murky because our goggles are fogged up. It’s murky because of the limits we place on ourselves.

Clean your goggles, then see if the waters really are murky. And if they are, well, the only way to stop water from being murky is to leave it still.
