One-up yourself

person running on dirt road

The only way to do your best is to compare yourself with yourself. If your definition of best means being better than others, then that’s great, but the true test is proving to yourself that you can be better.

Don’t try to one-up other people, try to one up yourself.

Everything you do gives you the opportunity to constantly learn from, to constantly work towards improving. And that’s great. It may seem like Sisyphus pushing a rock up a hill only for it to roll back down, but if everyday you focus on one improvement, they will build up over time. They will give you the chance to one-up yourself.
