Swift boat rocking

Don't want to rock the boat? Be prepared to do nothing. I guess you don't really need preparation to do nothing, but being afraid to rock the boat limits us in innumerable ways.

This is extremely evident in Japan, a society where people are not forced into, but highly encouraged into submission.

It's why the country still has extensive use of the fax machine, and why my company feels it's appropriate to use DVDs to share videos in 2019.

This is why change is slow to come, yet fast when it does. People are so used to maintaining the status quo that they only change when the pot boils over, and that means of course they have no choice but to act fast.

This is why you should be a boat-rocker. If you want to affect change in a society like this, the only way is to rock the boat till it reaches its tipping point. Or, more strategic might be to have the boat rock until it reaches tipping point.

The environment just hasn't forced these changes yet, but when the boat rocks, it will be swift.
