Take it out on the mountains
If you aren’t feeling right, if you’re going through something, if you feel the need for extra space, take it out on the mountains.
Both metaphorically and literally.
Of course there are many problems that a short hike cannot help. Well not straight away, that is. At the very least the mountains help give you perspective that could lead to a breakthrough. The mountains help you realise what you’ve known all along, they help bring out the subconscious.
The thing is, these things may or may not be what you want to hear. The truth the mountains bring out can at times be too much to bear.
That’s why Uketamo is so powerful.
Not only do the mountains teach you what you need to know, they offer a way for you to accept it.
And that’s why you should take it out on the mountains.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Hi, I’m Tim Bunting AKA the Kiwi Yamabushi, a New Zealander who became a Yamabushi Ascetic in the Dewa Sanzan mountains of north Japan. I’m part of the Yamabushido team, and we host life-altering Yamabushi training on the Dewa Sanzan (website link). People come to us for the ultimate mindfulness experience, to reach the next level, or simply connect with nature and themselves.
I’m on a mission to summit all 100 Famous Mountains of Yamagata Prefecture to spread the splendour of this fabulous location, and in dedication to all those who lost their lives out in nature, including my father.
On my daily blog I post thoughts of a practicing Yamabushi that I hope people can use to better themselves and live as fulfilling a life as possible.
