Team players

A coach can know all the tricks in the book inside and out, but they can only play with the cards they are dealt. This is one of the things I love about sports, that the players and coaches have to understand their own strengths and weaknesses, and how to best utilize the unique skills each player brings and how to best mitigate their weaknesses.

Of course you can train new players or teach new tricks, but that comes with a certain opportunity cost, so it’s interesting to see where time and money are invested, and even better when you see it pay off.

This is why you see teams having certain requirements for certain positions, all in the name of a certain goal. We can think about this in the same way for how we want to achieve our goals as well.
