They can’t take that away

One great piece of advice I got when I was doing my masters was ‘once you’ve done it, you’ve done it, and it can’t be taken away’. This is a great attitude to take to any endeavour, and is basically another way to say a moment of pain is worth a lifetime of glory.

In other words, if you can think about the endeavour as something temporary, it gives you motivation to push through the tough parts. In many cases, the pain truly is only temporary, and as long as there is no permanent damage, it is worth bearing through.

The lifetime glory part is also very nice when you can get it, no one can take my master’s away from me 🙂
