Uketamo, and Everything Else is a Bonus

The ancient Japanese philosophy for living well

Uketamo. Accept, accept, accept. Radical acceptance is not a new concept. Not by a long shot. But being able to do so on a daily basis?

Well, therein lies the challenge.

Which is why we need practice.

There is no better place than nature to learn the concept of Uketamo. But for everything else, once we learn to accept our place in the world, in the here and now, and then once we learn to accept our selves, all that’s left is the gift of life. All that’s left is the conditions for a life well lived.

Uketamo is easier said than done, that much is true. But what’s difficult is not impossible. What’s not impossible, is doable.

Practice acceptance every day, and you too will be left with the knowledge of simply how miraculous this thing called life is.
