Better, more efficient, but for what?

person writing on a notebook beside macbook

All these efforts to make more efficient workers, all these effort to make yourself more efficient at work. The problem is, sometimes we don't think about why we are doing what we are doing, and we just do it for the sake of doing it.

What this eventually means, is that you get more efficient at doing things that you didn't really want to do in the first place, things that may not benefit us all.

That's why it's really important to think critically about what you do before you do it. Is what you are doing worthwhile? Is what you're doing making things better? If you answered no to these questions, stop trying to become more efficient at work.

In saying that, if your work is a path to your long-term vision, and being more efficient can help you with that, by all means do it.
