Explore your boundaries with creativity

Life isn't a support system for art. It's the other way around.

Stephen King

I’ve been thinking about this a bit recently. I think it doesn’t really matter what medium we use, but we should put more emphasis on creating art.

Imagine if school were to simply create creators rather than obedient workers? I know this is the premise of Sir Ken Robinson’s TED talk, but I for one wish there was more emphasis on creation in schools.

It’s something I try to do in my own classes, by helping students express themselves in English. But having made more things than I ever have over the past year, I think I need to make even more of a creative effort. This is not to make money, but to explore the boundaries of the mind. I feel creativity truly is the only way we can really do that.
