Fleshing out ideas to fish out interest: How to find the interesting stuff to share

When I started my 100 famous mountains of Yamagata project, to be honest I didn’t think about writing in-depth articles about the places. I thought that video would be enough. What happened was, when I got home from climbing Mt. Kinbo way back in February, I was full of energy and I wanted some way to get what I was feeling out fast. So I sat on the couch and just blurted out what I was feeling into my blog app.

After that first article, I set up the mountains page template so that I just have to fill in the info rather than make each individual page. I’ve since modified the information and the way the information is shown on the page, and I’m starting to build a template of what to write and where.

Video takes a long time, especially for someone like me without any professional training, and being able to flesh ideas out in written form has really helped me fish out the interesting parts that I think people will respond to. At least that’s been my excuse for not doing more video work in recent days, but it’s getting a bit too skewed in the favour of written content, so I’m going to focus on video for a bit now.

Written form I feel better able to express my feelings, but if I can get better able to express my feelings by video, well then there will be no stopping me (at least I hope so). Even so, I think I’ll still stick to fleshing things out in written form first.
