Look for the common denominator

Sometimes for your own sake you have to work with people who have a different point of view to you. At that time, it helps to find somewhere where you all have a shared point of view, a shared vision. This shared vision becomes your common denominator. In fact, looking for a common denominator is probably the only way forward in a large number of cases. It helps to put away your preconceptions so that you can focus on the task at hand, not the person. Otherwise, you get stuck in a back and forth and no progress is made.

This idea I stole from the Tim Ferriss podcast with Charles Koch, and I want to share it so that I can come back to it when I need a reminder.
