More valid results
I remember watching a tv show here in Japan a while back where they showed that a group of Tongan people lost weight if they ate Japanese food. While they wanted to show that Japanese food is healthy, which it generally is besides the high salt content which leads to a lot of stomach cancer here, they seemed to forget the fact that simply changing their diet in itself could be enough for the Tongans to lose weight. If they used a control group, we’d have more valid results.
Maybe the same is true for me. For the past few days I’ve been going out, usually for a swim, in the late afternoon. Today I had something on that I had to stay home for and I got cravings for food. I might be losing weight from all the exercise I was getting, and this might be compounded by the biscuits and ice cream I’m not eating! Guess I have to go out in the afternoons more now 🙂
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Hi, I’m Tim Bunting AKA the Kiwi Yamabushi, a New Zealander who became a Yamabushi Ascetic in the Dewa Sanzan mountains of north Japan. I’m part of the Yamabushido team, and we host life-altering Yamabushi training on the Dewa Sanzan (website link). People come to us for the ultimate mindfulness experience, to reach the next level, or simply connect with nature and themselves.
I’m on a mission to summit all 100 Famous Mountains of Yamagata Prefecture to spread the splendour of this fabulous location, and in dedication to all those who lost their lives out in nature, including my father.
On my daily blog I post thoughts of a practicing Yamabushi that I hope people can use to better themselves and live as fulfilling a life as possible.
