Mountains of change

Sun rising over Mt. Chokai

One thing the mountains have taught me is to actively seek out change, and to not get so caught up when change happens, to embrace it.

Constantly seeking safety in the familiar I think this is a trap. It’s great to go back to what you know, but you also need to try different things. This is not just for the sake of it, but because unpredictable things do happen, and you need to be able to deal with them emotionally when they do.

If you have experience trying different things, this helps you more easily adapt and accept the new new.

Mountains by their nature are unpredictable locations. You always need to be prepared for the unpredictable, and even then the unpredictable can happen. So it helps to not only give you the chance to prepare for the unpredictable, but to also practice dealing with it when it inevitably does happen.
