Recommending with confidence as an excuse

To be able to recommend something to someone, it helps if you’ve experienced it before.

When someone disagrees with your decision to do something, tell them that you are doing it to get experience, so you can then offer them advice on whether to do it or not in the future. In a way, your experimentation is taking one for the team.

That’s why teaching something is the best way to learn it. To be able to teach something, you need to understand it well enough. To understand something well, it helps to experience it. Only then can you recommend it with confidence.
