Reducing the resistance

Tim Bunting Kiwi Yamabushi at Yamadera in Yamagata Prefecture

Swimming is all about efficiently moving through the water. The idea is that you make your body streamline like a fish in the ocean or a plane in the sky. Your focus isn’t so much on how fast you are kicking or how fast your arms are moving, but rather reducing the amount of drag as these two motions you push forward.

Once you have forward motion, your focus turns to reducing the things that stop that forward motion. If you aren’t careful, your thoughts and emotions can get in the way of this forward motion. But if you keep focused on maintaining the streamline, if you keep focused on the motion going forward, you more easily manage to stay afloat.
