Share your performance

I get the feeling that only so few people have realised it, but we are living in a golden age of self-publishing. Even 10 years ago it was expensive to buy a camera and produce good quality content, although owning a blog was probably easy enough, but could you imagine producing a podcast back then? Maybe.

I think it’s because of the sort of environment we’ve grown up with, where being on TV was only for the famous people. But now we have YouTube, I’m surprised how excited people get when they see other people on screen, perhaps that excitement of seeing someone on the screen just hasn’t gone away.

But my point is, we have so much potential now that technology has advanced to the stage where we have a supercomputer in our pockets, but I still think we could do a better job at expressing ourselves.

I learned in the past few days that if you want to get good at something, do it for an audience. You start to think about how more proficient people would critique you, and in turn you start to judge your own performance more objectively.
