Strenghten your culture

They say the best way to learn something is to teach it. The reason for this? Because without fully understanding something, you can't teach it. To make something easy to understand so that you can teach it, it helps to define it. To be able to define it, you have to truly understand it.

Some people are afraid of outside influence infiltrating a core culture and changing it for good. They use this as an argument against things like foreign language education and cross-cultural learning. This is absurd, and in fact the opposite is true.

In the case of places such as Pakistan, India, or even Jamaica, they understand that being able to express themselves in English makes their culture stronger. Having to share their culture in English means that they have to understand it, and to understand it, they have to be able to define it.

This defining of the language gives a stronger identity, which is arguably the core of any culture. Therefore, I believe learning a foreign language strengthens your own culture.
