The best definition of success I have ever heard

muggs of tea placed on wooden border

Yesterday I was listening to a podcast with former All Black and the face of mental health programs in New Zealand, the legendary Sir John Kirwan. In the episode he talks about how he asked his father to define success. His father’s answer? How many bastards are there to hold your casket.

While a bit morbid, I think this is probably the best definition of success I have ever heard. How much have you touched those around you in a positive way? Positive enough that they would care when you leave? That for me is success.
