What I’ve learned from a year of blogging

  • It's good to get thoughts out of your head and into the world. It's like a mental cleansing. Then I can go through them later and pick up on themes.
  • The power of the daily habit. I've written over 50,000 words this year, I wouldn't have been able to do that in a few sittings.
  • That things increase in value if you do them enough. This hasn't been the case for my blog just yet, but I have seen how other likeminded projects can increase in value. I need to share more though.
  • The WordPress app is really annoying. Sometimes it defaults to a website WordPress sets up for you when you set up a website with them. I sometimes accidentally post there. Perhaps I need to move to medium after all.
  • Writing a lot of crap helps when you need to write well. I've noticed my translations have been a bit clearer, but still have a lot of work to do in creating more coherent pieces.
  • I am quite against the modern work style, I want people (myself included) to be more conscious of what they're doing, and to do it for the right reasons.
  • I realised that I am definitely not working for the money alone.
  • We all have a gift that we owe it to the world to share.
