When shortcuts are anything but

When offered the chance to go one way or the other, look out for the snow.

Recently, I tried crossing the road about 10m away from the nearest crossing and I had already gone too far to return when I realised that there was a pile of snow in my way. Too proud to admit my mistake, and thinking it would be fine, I went and stood straight in the snow, filling up my shoe with the cold, and at the same time I noticed the lights change.

If I had done the normal thing and gone to the crossing, I would have gotten across quicker. Sometimes it's best to just take it easy, but whatever you choose, make sure you check your options.
