Release the tension
Yoga has taught me a lot of things, but perhaps the biggest discovery, at least in recent times, is that I could do a much better job at relaxing.
We always finish with the corpse pose where you simply lie down and consciously release all the energy in your muscles. Well, I’ve started to notice myself doing that throughout the day, and I have to say, I’m pretty tense.
It made me wonder that if I’m like that, someone who consciously focuses on their breath to get through the day at times, then other people might be in a similar situation.
So I hope you take this as an opportunity to check in on your body, and if you notice yourself tensing up, have a go at releasing the energy. You’ll feel much better for it, I guarantee!
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Hi, I’m Tim Bunting AKA the Kiwi Yamabushi, a New Zealander who became a Yamabushi Ascetic in the Dewa Sanzan mountains of north Japan. I’m part of the Yamabushido team, and we host life-altering Yamabushi training on the Dewa Sanzan (website link). People come to us for the ultimate mindfulness experience, to reach the next level, or simply connect with nature and themselves.
I’m on a mission to summit all 100 Famous Mountains of Yamagata Prefecture to spread the splendour of this fabulous location, and in dedication to all those who lost their lives out in nature, including my father.
On my daily blog I post thoughts of a practicing Yamabushi that I hope people can use to better themselves and live as fulfilling a life as possible.
